Why is my child in the class that he/she is in?
Generally children of a similar belt range are grouped together, however older children may be placed in a class with higher level belts as they can cope with more complicated instructions and techniques.

As the age and belt levels of the students within the school changes all the time, the best way to group them for teaching can change too. This means the decision as to who goes into which class can be different each time.

When would my child ‘move up’ to the next class, and why?
After each grading we will move some children up into a higher class, depending on their belt level or age, or both. As noted above, the criteria for this can be different from one grading to the next, depending on the range of children in the class the student is in, or is moving in to.

Little Dragons will also move up to a Karate Kids class, purely related to age. This would usually happen after a grading when they are around 6.75yrs, depending on the whether Sensei feels they are ready.
Any child that is moving up after a grading will receive a letter from Helen letting them know all the details around 3 or 4 weeks before the move is due to be implemented.

What if I’m concerned about my child moving to a class that’s later in the evening?
Over the years we have had a few parents express concern that their children won’t cope with coming to a later class, and therefore having a later bedtime. We have always invited parents to try it out for a couple of weeks and let us know if there any problems, but it seems the children manage ok as we’ve never had any parents come back to us on this issue yet.

Specific to Little Dragons moving up to Karate Kids…..
